HURRICANE RELIEF
Hurricane relief has been pouring in from across the country and around the world. Memphis charities, churches, civic clubs and individuals have donated millions of dollars in relief aid and here comes another innovative and wonderful opportunity to help.
It's called Gulf Relief '05, an auction to benefit Hurricane Katrina victims. This is a combined effort of Memphis television stations. That in itself is a Memphis first!
John Roebuck of Roebuck Auctions in Memphis is coordinating the auction. Former Memphis Mayor Dick Hackett is also working on the event with assistance from dozens of volunteers.
Here's where we need your help: We need donated items. You can donate furniture, antiques, cars, trucks, 4 wheelers or practically anything that can be auctioned. Call 662-470-2122 to list your items. You'll be told when you can drop your items off at the Desoto Civic Center.
The auction starts at 6pm, Friday September 23rd and will continue on Saturday September 24th. 100% of the proceeds will go to help Katrina victims. Also, your donations are tax deductible.
For internet users, you can view items and place bids by going to www.roebuckauctions.com.
Good luck and good bidding!
